Wild and whimsical machines will gather in Corvallis this weekend for the 30th annual Graand Kinetic Challenge, a two-day human-powered sculpture race over land, sand, mud and water.
“Kinetic sculptures are moving works of art, pedaled by human power over a rigorous, all-terrain course by teams of fun-loving racers,” said race director Reed Lacy. “These engineering marvels move in all kinds of ingenious ways, and they are sculpted into all sorts of fantastic shapes like sea anemones, a school bus, a flying pink elephant, a slice of cheese and a yellow submarine.”
