The Oregon State gymnastics team will compete Sunday for a spot at nationals.
The Beavers and LSU each finished at 197.375 in the regional semifinals in Denver on Friday to beat out Georgia (197.000) and Nebraska (195.525) and advance to the regional final on Sunday.
With Jade Carey and Madi Dagen leading the way, Oregon State scored 49.550 in floor exercise, 49.250 in vault, 49.125 on uneven bars and 49.450 on balance beam.
Carey turned in the highest score of the session on floor, at 9.975, and tied for the highest score on beam with a 9.950. Carey tied for second at 9.900 on bars and posted an all-around score of 39.650, second to LSU’s Haleigh Bryant (39.700). Dagen had the best score of the session on vault, at 9.900.
Four other teams — Michigan, host Denver, Minnesota and Arizona — were set to compete in the second regional semifinal session on Friday night. The top two teams there will join Oregon State and LSU in Sunday’s regional final, which starts at 4 p.m. PDT.
The top two teams from each of four regional finals (Denver, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Norman, Oklahoma) will move on to the NCAA women’s gymnastics championships, set for April 13-15 in Fort Worth, Texas.
