Colorful balloons, candles and bouquets of flowers lined the sidewalk outside the Wimbledon Square apartments Tuesday. Nestled at the center, a small wood carving painted pink carried a message: “You’re the best mom.”
There, at a candlelight vigil Tuesday night, more than 30 family members, friends and neighbors gathered to celebrate April Nicole Newcomb-Cripe, who was fatally shot Saturday night in a parking lot of the apartment complex in Southeast Portland’s Reed neighborhood.
