Oregon needed a late rally to take the opening game of a two-game series with Gonzaga.
Bryce Boettcher and Drew Cowley each hit two-run singles and Sabin Ceballos hit a three-run home run as part of a seven-run seventh inning for the No. 23 Ducks in an 11-4 win over the Bulldogs Tuesday night at PK Park.
Down 3-2 after six, Oregon (27-12) rallied with seven of its first eight batters reaching safely in the seventh, all off GU’s Payton Graham. Jacob Walsh walked and Bennett Thompson (3 for 4) doubled, then Boettcher drove them in. Rikuu Nishida singled and Anson Aroz walked to load the bases for Cowley, who singled to right and went 3 for 5 with three RBIs on the day. Ceballos followed with a blast to left, his 11th of the season.
Aroz drove in a run and Cowley added a solo homer in the eighth.
Graham (0-4) allowed seven runs on six hits, two walks and a hit batter in 1.0 inning of work for Gonzaga (14-23).
Jackson Pace allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.0 innings in a no-decision for UO. Grayson Grinsel allowed a hit and walk and struck out two in a scoreless sixth and Leo Uelmen (3-3) allowed a run on three hits and a hit batter over 3.0 winning innings of relief.
The teams will meet again at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
