The Portland area’s string of 80-degree days is about to kick it up a notch.
Sunday’s high temperature is expected to reach 86 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and Monday could be as warm as 88 degrees.
But then it’s expected to get truly hot.
The Fourth of July on Tuesday could see temperatures as high as 94 degrees, and Wednesday’s high temperature is expected to reach 97 degrees.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from Tuesday at 10 a.m. to Wednesday at 11 p.m. for the cities of Hillsboro, Portland, Wilsonville, Oregon City, Gresham, Troutdale, Salem, McMinnville, Woodburn, Stayton, Dallas, Vancouver, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Washougal, Yacolt, and Amboy.
During the hot weather, temperatures are unlikely to fall below 70 degrees overnight, trapping heat in homes and posing danger to people who are vulnerable to heat illness.
