A man accused of firing on a homeless encampment near Interstate 5 and Capitol Highway in March was indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury Monday on multiple charges, including second-degree attempted murder.
Ryan S. Fardreamer III, 48, had a dispute with a couple at the camp and drove there March 6, according to court records.
Fardreamer used his Nissan Pathfinder to block in residents and began shooting at Joshua Yeamans, his girlfriend Shaelyn Syverson and another individual, court records allege. The records don’t name the third person.
Syverson told investigators she and Yeamans had been in an ongoing dispute with Fardreamer that had motivated them to leave the encampment and Fardreamer arrived as they were packing up the last of their things, court records state.
Yeamans was shot in the leg as he tried to drive away but was blocked by Fardreamer, Syverson told investigators. Yeamans then got out of the car and jumped into the bed of a nearby friend’s pickup.
The friend drove Yeamans to the hospital while Fardreamer followed them, according to court records.
Fardreamer later confronted the pickup driver, who had struck Fardreamer’s Pathfinder, and poured gasoline over the truck before threatening to set it on fire if he was not compensated for the damage, according to a statement from the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
Fardreamer was arrested Tuesday on a warrant and found with two guns in his possession, the DA’s Office statement said.
In addition to attempted murder, Fardreamer also has been charged with second-degree assault, first-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm, according to court records.
Fardreamer will remain in the Multnomah County Inverness Jail until an August court hearing to determine if he qualifies for release.
