If you’re craving a break from the stressful news of the day, you may find relief in “The Bond,” a new series on Discovery Plus that explores the special relationships people form with animals in their lives. One installment of the four-episode show focuses on a couple who live in Grants Pass, and who enjoy traveling in a hand-painted, vintage Airstream trailer, accompanied by their four-legged companion, Frankie the goat.
• “The Bond” is streaming on Discovery Plus, which is offering some discounted deals, “just in time for Shark Week.” Verizon customers with select Unlimited plans can get up to 6 months of Discovery Plus for free.
The episode featuring Chad and Cate Battles follows the couple as they — and Frankie — set out from their Grants Pass home for a trip around the West in their Airstream. It’s a journey that takes them through gorgeous scenery in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, and concludes with an emotional stop on the southern coast of Oregon.
Along the way, we see forested mountainsides, grassy riverbanks, fast-flowing water, spectacular ocean vistas, awe-inspiring sunsets, and, of course, many shots of the charismatic and totally cute Frankie.
Whether they’re hiking on trails, meeting up with “pack goat enthusiasts,” visiting a friend made via social media, or filling us in on what it’s like living with a goat, the Battles seem to be having a wonderful time. This combination of travelogue and celebration of the bond between humans and animals will likely lift the spirits of viewers, too.
