Oregon’s Bend North Little League softball team is headed to the Little League Softball World Series after winning the Northwest Regional championship Friday night.
Powered by a three-run home run from Lily Christensen and a bases-clearing triple from Jessie Berry, Bend North beat Montana 8-4 to win the regional title in San Bernardino, California.
The Oregon team had lost 7-2 to Montana on Wednesday before edging Washington 7-6 on Thursday to earn a rematch against Boulder Arrowhead Little League of Billings, Montana, in the championship game.
Bend North now gets set to represent the Northwest in the world series, which runs Aug. 6-13 in Greenville, North Carolina. The Oregon squad has a first-round bye in the Orange bracket of the 12-team tournament and will open play on Monday, Aug. 7, against the winner of the previous day’s game between Latin America and Canada. Bend North’s game will be streamed on ESPN+.
