DeAndre Hopkins’ free agent tour of NFL teams has come to a close.
The wide receiver has agreed to a contract with the Tennessee Titans, according to a report. Hopkins has agreed to a two-year, $26 million deal that could be worth up to $32 million with incentives. Hopkins, 31, will get a base salary of $12 million and up to $15 million with incentives.
Hopkins indicated he’s joining the Titans with a post on social media.
The Titans had been heavily pursuing Hopkins after hosting him in June. The New England Patriots reportedly were also chasing Hopkins, but the Titans offered a better package. Adding the 10-year veteran will immediately vault him to the position of “WR1″ with the Titans while adding considerable experience to a position that is lacking proven playmakers.
Hopkins was released by the Arizona Cardinals in May after they failed to find a suitable trade partner. Hopkins’ $30.75 million cap hit for the 2024 season complicated potential trade deals.
Hopkins caught a combined 102 passes for 1,289 yards during his past two seasons with the Cardinals. Those numbers were a result of him missing 15 out of 34 possible regular-season games over the past two years due to a hamstring injury, a torn MCL and a suspension. Prior to the past two seasons, Hopkins was one of the most productive wideouts in the league.
Hopkins posted at least 1,100 receiving yards in six of the sevens seasons between 2014 and 2020. He also registered at least 95 receptions in four of the seasons during that span.
Treylon Burks is the Titans’ leading returning receiver. The second-year player had 33 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown last year.
