Fired Milwaukie cop charged with misconduct, accused of having sex on duty

Fired Milwaukie police Officer David Michael McVeigh has been charged with first-degree official misconduct for allegedly having sex with someone while on duty in Clackamas County.

McVeigh, 33, of Portland is scheduled to be arraigned May 31 in Clackamas County Circuit Court, according to court records.

The sexual encounter occurred on Nov. 24, 2019, Clackamas County prosecutors allege. Court documents don’t indicate if the other person involved was someone McVeigh encountered as part of his police work.

McVeigh was hired by the Milwaukie Police Department in March 2016 and was fired March 28, 2023, according to police and Department of Public Safety Standards and Training records.

Milwaukie police did not say why they fired McVeigh, but said they notified the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office as soon as they learned of allegations against McVeigh.

“I would like to thank the complainant for speaking out and thank the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office for investigating this matter, seeking truth and justice,” Police Chief Luke Strait said in a statement.
