Fred Kerley ran a scorching 100 meters on Friday at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, crossing the line in 9.76 seconds to win.
And that was just a semifinal heat.
Kerley’s wind-legal time was the fastest in the world this year, as well as a meet record and a personal best for the 27-year-old Kerley.
The final is slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday and will feature Trayvon Bromell, who crossed in 9.81 to win the other semifinal heat, as well as Marvin Bracy-Williams (9.86), Christian Coleman (9.87), Oregon Ducks star Micah Williams (9.94) and former Ducks standout Kyree King (9.99).
