It has been a few years since the festival last took place, but on Saturday, January 27, 2024, Goose Hollow Inn will host its 2024 Coffee Beer Fest from 1:00 – 6:00pm. The longtime tavern founded by Portland’s favorite mayor, Bud Clark, and known for its famous Reuben sandwich will bring together some of the region’s most creative coffee beers.
Last held in January 2020. Goose Hollow Inn’s Coffee Beer Fest will bring together a dozen coffee beers, each with its own inspiring tweak. Normally associated with stouts, this year’s coffee beers will also include porters, amber ales, IPAs and Bud Clark Stout. This stout from Gigantic Brewing as part of their Weird Portland United series honors the late Bud Clark and will be served on Nitro!
In addition to the dozen beers that will be on tap, Goose Hollow Inn will be serving its food menu throughout the entire event. Plus there will be live music from Loggers Daughter and Soul What.
2024 Coffee Beer Fest Tap List:
Via Brewing – NIGHTY NIGHT Sweet Stout: This draft-only stout is a rich, delicious flavor bomb, perfect for the winter weather. We added freshly roasted Ecuadorian cacao nibs from the wizards at Woodblock Chocolate and some special Guatemalan beans from Portland’s Good Coffee, post-fermentation; they are singing with sweet, savory and softly bitter notes atop a clean sweet-stout base brewed with rolled oats and some lactose sugar. 7.7% ABV
Zoiglhaus Brewing – Smudge: Named after a beloved cat from the Zoiglhaus family. The brew is a combination of Zoigl-Porter and a custom blend of African coffees from Badbeard’s. Rich malt flavors of chocolate, toffee, and coffee dominate this very smooth lager. Paired with the fruity notes from the coffee, it is a concoction that would make Smudge proud! 7.0% ABV 40 IBU
Gigantic Brewing – NITRO Bud Clark Coffee Stout: Known as a champion of alternative transportation, public art, and Oregon beer, Bud Clark cemented Portland’s reputation as fiercely independent and a little weird. This stout, brewed with robust Coava coffee, reflects Bud’s love of strong coffee and dark beer. Proceeds from the Weirdtastic Series of beers are donated to “Weird Portland United”, a nonprofit that supports the artistic risk-takers that make our city weirdly wonderful. Whoop! Whoop! 6.2% ABV
Hopworks Urban Brewing – Abominable Coffee Vanilla: A Red IPA infused with Vanilla + Nossa Familia’s Delicia do Brasil roast coffee. 7.3% ABV
Mt Tabor Brewing – Cafe Rojo: We combined our award winning MacTaborhan’s Amber Ale w/ Groundwork Coffee’s certified organic and locally roasted cold brew. Their coffee is roasted just down the street from the brewery which makes them a great partner for this fun event. 5.3% ABV 21 IBU
Migration Brewing – Annabelle Coffee Porter: Brown Porter with notes of caramel and chocolate. Flavors of toffee, dark cherry and raisins mix with notes of bittersweet chocolate and lightly to medium roasted coffee beans. We partnered with “Good Coffee” as we felt this beer would blend perfectly with there roastery offerings 5.7% ABV 12 IBU
Double Mountain Brewery – Golden Coffee Stout: The flavors and aromas of a stout and the color of a golden ale. To achieve this illusion, we used cocoa nibs from Ranger Chocolate in Portland, and selected a special blend of coffee from 10-Speed Coffee Roasters in Mosier, OR to play the role of roasted barley, giving you all the stout qualities with a golden color. 5.8% ABV
pFriem Family Brewers – Barrel Aged Amburana Imperial Coffee Stout: This is a very special batch of our Imperial Stout, aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels with Brazilian Amburana hardwood chips and whole bean Coava Nayo Ovalle coffee, imparting coffee liqueur, big vanilla, baking spice, exotic wood, and a warming bourbon finish with silken mouthfeel. 11.5% ABV 40 IBU
Upright Brewing – Upright Coffee Porter: This porter is a traditional, open fermented English-style dark ale with a natural “Gesha” Guatemalan cold brew added from Junior’s Roasted Coffee. 4.4% ABV
54-40 Brewing – Baltic Coffee Porter: A Baltic Porter with local coffee beans and candy cap mushrooms.
Ruse Brewing – Borders of Night Coffee Oatmeal Stout: This velvety stout was conditioned on the S.O. Blend from Coava Coffee Roasters, with Notes of chocolate, sweet oatmeal, and bright java. 6.5% ABV
Boneyard Brewing – Dirty Chai Stout: Dark and creamy with a healthy dose of coffee from our own Scott Hughes’ roastery (Third Rock Roasters, Bend) along with chai spices all added post fermentation. 5.5% ABV
Entry is $25 at the door and includes an adorable taster glass and 8 taster tickets. The event is family friendly, but in years past it’s not really a place for a child as the outside tent gets very crowded. Also, organizers ask to leave your pets at home.
