Oregon gubernatorial candidate Betsy Johnson is getting attention this week for calling Portland the “city of roaches,” in an attack on local elected officials’ handling of pandemic garbage pileups and the highly visible rise in homelessness.
It wasn’t the first time Johnson used the roach ding against Portland, long known as the City of Roses: She employed it in a local television interview last month, according to KATU.
