The much-anticipated Greta Gerwig “Barbie” comes out this weekend and really, who couldn’t use at least a temporary dip into a world with dream houses, pool parties and no need to decide what to make for dinner?
So, put on your pinkest high heels and head out to any of these Barbie-inspired events and movie showings.

“Barbie” vs. “Oppenheimer” wine pairings
“Portland’s weirdest wine shop and bar” is celebrating the opening week of two huge movies in a way that makes sense for a wine shop – wine pairings. We’re a little concerned about what the “Oppenheimer” might be…
Monday, July 24, to Sunday, July 30, Pairings Portland, 455 N.E. 24th Ave., pairingsportland.com/events/barbie-vs-oppenhimer
Where to watch the movie
If you’re looking for where to catch “Barbie” on opening weekend, a better question might be, “Where isn’t it playing?”
The movie is set to screen starting Thursday, July 20 at Regal cinemas and Cinemark cinemas almost every half hour starting in the afternoon. More frequently, we might note, than “Oppenheimer.” At independent establishments, you can also watch the film version of your childhood games. It’s playing at Living Room Theaters, Studio One, The Academy, Laurelhurst Theater, even OMSI.
However, if you want to watch “Barbie” at Hollywood Theater, you’re out of luck. That theater is only showing “Oppenheimer.”
