A woman died Wednesday in a hit-and-run crash while attempting to cross the street in Southeast Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Police responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian near Southeast Division Street and Southeast 122nd Avenue around 1:30 p.m., according to a news release from the bureau.
An eastbound driver struck the woman and fled the scene, police said. An ambulance took the woman to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A section of Southeast Division Street was briefly closed Wednesday as the Major Crash Team investigated the scene.
This is the 10th pedestrian death in Portland so far this year.
