Oregon Ducks shortstop Josh Kasevich could be headed north of the border as he was selected in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. The American League East team took Kasevich with the 64th overall pick.
Kasevich was a Pac-12 all-conference and all-defensive team selection in the 2022 season.
In his junior season, Kasevich had a .310 average with 76 hits, 44 RBIs and seven home runs. He had a .980 fielding rating with 100 putouts. The MLB Draft’s official tracker referred to Kasevich as “perhaps the best defender in the Pacific Northwest.”
Kasevich is a native of Palo Alto, California.
