Y’all ordered your tub of Black-joy flavored ice cream yet?
If not, go ahead and make your orders now so you can be part of the first round of shipments on Tuesday. Y’all can also score some free ice cream by hitting up our giveaway. Either way, we wanna make sure our Black joy fam can cool down with something nice and sweet cause the way these temperatures are set up – as Nelly said, “It’s getting hot in herre.”
Speaking of heat, if you’re looking to protect your babies’ melanin glow, we’ve got you covered. Shoot this newsletter over to your friends and fam, then let’s kick things off with a story about a motha who is making historical moves in the sunscreen game.

Sun ain’t got nothing on Baby Donna
When a Connecticut mother struggled to find a sunscreen that wouldn’t irritate her daughter’s sensitive skin or make her look ghostly, sis said, “Screw it. I’ll make it myself.” Founded by Dalaise Hickey, Baby Donna is the first – and only – Black-owned mineral sunscreen brand specifically for Black and brown babies. Dalaise also helps youth in the foster care system through this same brand.
Imma just say less and let y’all read more on our site.
No racism in my ice cream, please
If our ice cream playlist was a lil’ to spicy for you, then you’re gonna love the bops we rounded up for y’all this week. Turns out one of the most iconic tunes of my childhood summers has racist roots. The ice cream truck jingle, now known as “Turkey In The Straw,” is based on a song that is littered with racial slurs and tropes. But we’re turning up the volume on Black music artists who’ve since reclaimed the melody.
Stay hydrated and spread the Black joy! See ya next time!
