Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade will kick off from the Memorial Coliseum about 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, but streets along the parade route may have closures well before that time.
Travelers in and around the Lloyd District should be aware of heavy foot traffic before and after the parade, as well as closed streets and detours throughout the morning and early afternoon. The parade is expected to wrap up about noon.
The parade typically draws hundreds of thousands of cheering viewers set up along the route, sometimes even the night before. This year’s weather may keep that early activity down a bit as rain is likely through Saturday morning.
The parade route leaves the Memorial Coliseum via Northeast Broadway and Weidler streets before it travels south on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It will then turn left on Lloyd Boulevard and end up on Multnomah Street near the Lloyd Center.
The route crosses TriMet MAX lines at least twice. Be prepared for delays on the MAX through the parade area. Check TriMet.org/alerts for updates closer to the event.
Multnomah County noted that the eastbound lanes of the Broadway Bridge will close 7 a.m.-2 p.m. for the parade. The ramps to and from North Larrabee Avenue will also close. Drivers will need to use alternate routes. Westbound lanes on the Broadway Bridge will remain open.
Parade fans can see the floats up-close following the event along Southwest Naito Parkway downtown near the CityFair.
