If you like nothing more than settling down after a long day with a glass of red and a juicy cut of steak, then one man reckons he’s found a way to revolutionise your culinary mores. Cook steak in the dishwasher? Apparently it comes out “amazing”.
American news reporter Michael George, of CBS, has claimed that an altogether unlikely conduit – the dishwasher – can rustle you up a perfectly good steak.
Did I just say the dishwasher? Yes, yes I did.
Will I be trying it for myself? No, no I won’t.
“Omg it actually worked! I cooked a steak in the dishwasher and it came out AMAZING!” Michael George wrote on Twitter, alongside a video of the unlikely process in action.

George cooked his steak in a sealable bag, vacuum sealed it shut and then proceeded to chuck it in the dishwasher.
Reportedly, the dishwasher was left on for 98 minutes and the steak was put in the top draw.
Unfortunately the dishwasher didn’t quite do all the work, so Michael George finished the steak in a pan with some butter, garlic and herbs.
“With most ways of cooking steak, you put it in the pan for 2 min just to brown the outside. But all the internal cooking was done in the dishwasher! George explained.
“Interesting. Kinda like *steam-cooking* it in a microwave….then finishing it in a fry pan. With a microwave….you’d use less energy and no water.” One Twitter user wrote.
