Reckon reporter Daric L. Cottingham spoke with the late Kokomo City star Rasheeda Williams, aka Koko Da Doll, at Sundance 2023 to discuss her hopes for young Trans Girls and the message they gain from watching the film.
The documentary is a raw depiction of the lives of four Black trans sex workers as they confront the dichotomy between the Black community and themselves. But as the news broke of Williams’ murder, Kokomo City is an homage to her memory and the complex life as a Black trans woman.
Kokomo City premieres in theaters Friday, July 28, 2023.
