A battle between public safety and protecting gun owners’ rights unfolded Wednesday morning before the Oregon House Judiciary Committee, as almost 20 people argued for and against a trio of firearm bills aimed at curbing gun violence and the proliferation of undetectable and untraceable firearms – also called “ghost guns.”
The three bills – House Bill 2005, 2006 and 2007 – will be merged into a single bill that would punish the manufacturing, sale and possession of undetectable and untraceable firearms, increase the legal age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21 and allow cities and counties to restrict concealed handgun license carriers from possessing a firearm on their property.
