Oregon could not produce enough offense against Stanford’s Alana Vawter and had three runners thrown out stealing in an extra-innings loss to Stanford.
Allee Bunker went 2 for 3 with an RBI double but the rest of the No. 19 Ducks had just three hits in a 3-1 loss in eight innings to the No. 7 Cardinal in front of 1,659 Friday night at Jane Sanders Stadium.
Taylor Gindlesperger led the game off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly to give Stanford (23-2, 1-0 Pac-12) an early lead.
Bunker doubled in Terra McGowan to tie the game in the third.
Stevie Hansen allowed one run on seven hits and a walk and struck out two over 5.0 innings in a no-decision. She got Stanford to stand six runners on base from the second through the fifth.
Meanwhile Ariel Carlson and Paige Sinicki hit one-out singles in the fourth and fifth, respectively, but were each caught stealing. Oregon (18-7, 1-3) didn’t had a hit after Sinicki’s single and its only base runner came in the eighth when Tehya Bird drew a leadoff walk, but pinch runner Kai Luschar was also thrown out on the bases.
Vawter (10-1) allowed one run on five hits and two walks and struck out three over 7.0 innings and NiJaree Canady earned her second save of the season with a scoreless eighth for Stanford.
The teams continue the series at 2 p.m. Saturday.
