Norah Jones, celebrated singer-songwriter, jazz musician, and pianist, is coming to Portland this Monday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. She will perform at McMenamins Historic Edgefield Manor as part of her 20th anniversary ‘Come Away with Me’ tour in honor of the 2002 Grammy award-winning album. Norah Jones is a Grammy award-winning musician who propelled to fame in both the jazz and pop spheres after the 2002 release of her debut album Come Away with Me. She is the daughter of prolific Indian composer and sitar player Ravi Shankar and sister to musicians Anoushka Shankar and Shubhendra Shankar. In 2003 alone, Jones won Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Album of the Year. She is known for her poignant lyrics and melodic singing qualities as well as her trademark fusion style of jazz, folk, pop, and blues—drawing inspiration from her time in Texas, where she grew up.
