Oregon’s offense rallied after the seventh and its bullpen threw three hitless innings to complete a series sweep of Xavier.
Josiah Cromwick and Gavin Grant homered and Tanner Smith hit an RBI single and Logan Olson, Dylan McShane and Josh Mollerus combined to seal a 3-1 Ducks win over the Musketeers Sunday afternoon at PK Park.
Xavier got on the board with an RBI double off Jackson Pace in the fifth. Oregon stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning but eventually broke through against XU’s Luke Bell when Cromwick led off the seventh with a home run, his second in as many days, to tie it.
Grant (2 for 2) led off the eighth with a go-ahead blast and Rikuu Nishida singled and stole second and later scored on a single by Smith.
Meanwhile, Olson worked into and out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh, McShane worked a 1-2-3 eighth and Mollerus got his second save of the weekend by working around a leadoff walk in the ninth.
Oregon (4-0) travels to UC Santa Barbara for a four-game series starting at 5 p.m. Friday.
