Oregon forward Grace VanSlooten will vie for a spot on USA Basketball’s Women’s U19 National Team.
VanSlooten is among 24 players invited to the team trials starting Friday in Colorado Springs, with 12 earning roster spots. Those 12 players will compete at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, which is July 15-23 in Madrid, Spain. The U.S. is in Group B along with Chinese Taipei, Germany and Mali in the 16-team event.
Texas A&M’s Joni Taylor is the team’s head coach with Old Dominion’s DeLisha Milton-Jones and Indiana’s Teri Moren serving as assistants.
In 2022, VanSlooten helped Team USA win its 10th straight gold medal at the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship.
VanSlooten averaged 13.2 points and 5.6 rebounds as a freshman at UO last season.
