The Oregon State baseball team’s home opener will begin a little earlier than originally planned.
First pitch for the Beavers’ Friday matchup against the Coppin State Eagles at Goss Stadium has been moved up to 3:05 p.m. because of weather concerns. The forecast calls for freezing temperatures late Friday in Corvallis.
The three-game series features afternoon starting times over the weekend — 1:35 on Saturday and 1:05 on Sunday — so the first pitch for those matchups remain unchanged.
It’s the first home series of the season for the Beavers (3-1), who opened with a four-game tournament in Surprise, Arizona, last week. The Beavers suffered a 7-2 loss to New Mexico on opening day, before ending the tournament with three consecutive wins, beating Minnesota, New Mexico and UC Santa Barbara by a combined scored of 33-13.
The Beavers have recorded 33 runs, 36 hits and 21 walks over their last three games.
