The Oregon State Beavers softball team will open the 2022 Women’s College World Series against No. 14 national seed Florida.
Oregon State’s matchup against the Gators is set for 4 p.m. PT Thursday in Oklahoma City (TV on ESPN) and will be the third game of the opening day of the eight-team, double-elimination tournament.
The Beavers (39-20) and Gators (48-17) are in Bracket 2 of the tournament along with No. 7 seed Oklahoma State and Arizona, which will play at 6:30 p.m. PT Thursday (TV on ESPN).
In Bracket 1 of the WCWS, No. 5 seed UCLA will face Texas at 9 a.m. PT Thursday, followed by No. 1 seed Oklahoma vs. No. 9 seed Northwestern at 11:30 a.m. PT. Both of those games will be on ESPN.
The Beavers are back in the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2006. Oregon State won the Knoxville (Tennessee) Regional to advance to super regionals, and then swept Stanford to move on to the WCWS.
Florida hosted and won the Gainesville Regional, and then knocked off No. 3 national seed Virginia Tech in three games in the super regionals to clinch its WCWS spot. The Gators won the Women’s College World Series in 2014 and 2015, and they were the runners-up in 2009, 2011 and 2017.
