Oregon State rising junior Jade Carey announced Tuesday that she intends to compete as a college gymnast next season, while training for a Team USA roster spot for the 2024 Olympics.
Carey plans to compete for the Beavers on a limited basis next season. Carey’s primary focus is returning to the Olympics, where she won a gold medal in floor exercise for Team USA at the 2021 Olympics.
It is unclear as to when Carey will be available for Oregon State during the 2024 season.
The 2024 Olympics are July 26-Aug. 11 in Paris.
In a social media post, Carey wrote “It has always been a passion of mine to represent the United States and the Beavs. With that being said, I am excited to share that I will be remaining at Oregon State while pursuing my dreams of the 2024 Olympics.”
Carey, the most successful gymnast in OSU history, is a two-time Pac-12 gymnast of the year. Carey is a two-time NCAA silver medalist (beam, bars) and finished fourth in the 2022 all-around. Carey, an Arizona native, has posted at least one perfect 10 score in each gymnastics event during her OSU career.
