The Portland Timbers inducted club legend Diego Valeri into the team’s ring of honor on Saturday night. Valeri stood in tears at midfield pregame and waved to a packed Providence Park crowd before his name was unveiled along the stadium’s east end.
Valeri spent the week reminiscing and volunteering throughout Portland, including work with the Latino community in the Portland area and participating in Timbers training on Friday.
Valeri is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 100 goals and 104 assists across all competitions. He led the Timbers to their lone MLS Cup title in 2015 and earned MLS MVP honors in 2017.
