Can you get through just one more rainy day? Portland will see a few hours of scattered showers Monday before the rest of the work week warms up, clears up, and spring finally arrives.
The National Weather Service says showers will likely be spotty Monday and will mostly fall before about 2 p.m. Skies will stay cloudy most of the day. The high will be near 57 degrees.
But by the afternoon, the shower activity will have shifted eastward, and a ridge of high pressure will begin to build into the region. This is the shift we’ve needed to keep out storms, cloud cover, and give the Pacific Northwest some sunny days.
The weather service says that Tuesday will be the first in a string of dry days that will start the transition from the winter-like weather we’ve been seeing to spring weather. Portland will see temperatures that will be nearer to average to start the week, and well above average by Friday.
Portland will see sunny skies Tuesday, with high temperatures near 64 degrees, which is about average for late April. Winds will be light.
Wednesday will be another mostly clear day, but temperatures will take a 10-degree jump giving Portland its first 70-degree day since October 20, 2022. The high temperature will likely reach about 74 degrees.
The extended forecast is showing continued sunny days and warm temperatures Thursday and Friday. It’s likely Thursday’s high will be in the upper 70s, and Portland may even see a high of 80 by Friday. Break out the shorts, flip flops, and sunscreen!
