The Portland G League team has named former Portland Trail Blazers analyst Danny Connors general manager and Eugene “Pooh” Jeter assistant general manager, the Trail Blazers announced Friday.
Connors spent the previous seven seasons as personnel analyst, helping evaluate talent through scouting and analytics.
Jeter, who played basketball at the University of Portland (2002-06), played one season in the NBA (Sacramento, 2010-11) and has spent the past two seasons playing with the G League Ignite. He has also played professionally in Spain, Israel, China, France, Turkey and the Ukraine.
While with the Ignite, Jeter was a teammate and mentor to Scoot Henderson, projected to be a top-three pick in the 2023 NBA draft. The Blazers, owners of the No. 3 pick, brought Henderson in for a workout last Saturday.
Should the Blazers draft Henderson, there is a chance he could spend some time with the G League squad, where he would work directly with Jeter.
Connors, prior to joining the Trail Blazers, was a graduate assistant for Massachusetts (2014-16), where he earned his master’s degree in Sports Management. His career with the Blazers began as a basketball operations assistant in 2016. He later worked as the Blazers’ high school scouting coordinator (2018-21) and ccouting coordinator (2021-22).
Jeter was a three-time all-West Coast Conference player with the Pilots, scoring 1,708 career points, second in UP history.
