Portland is nearing the end of its string of 80-degree days that has offered up a record-setting spring this year.
The National Weather Service predicts temperatures should cool closure to seasonal “normal” by Sunday.
Until then, Portland will have two more days in the 80s. Friday will feature mostly sunny skies and a high of about 85 degrees.
Saturday will be partly sunny, and high temperatures will drop a few degrees to about 81.
Instability in the atmosphere and lingering moisture will continue to bring thunderstorms to the Cascade mountains into the weekend. If you’re heading up to the hills to camp, fish, hike, etc., be ready for a 15-30% chance of thunderstorm development. Some of those storms will pack high winds, rain, lightning, and hail. Be prepared.
A stronger push of marine air will be the first sign that we’re heading back to more average temperatures by Sunday. Daytime highs across western Oregon will dip into the mid-to-upper 70s. Along the coast the high temps could cool into the 50s.
Portland will see partly sunny skies Sunday and a high of about 73. Breezy winds will kick up during the afternoon, especially near the Columbia River Gorge.
Extended forecasts are showing cooler days, but still no rain, in Portland, at least through Tuesday. Monday’s high may only reach 69 degrees.
