The Portland Timbers have found a new addition at forward and plan to sign Franck Boli of the Hungarian club Ferencváros, a team source confirmed to The Oregonian/OregonLive on Tuesday.

Boli, a 29-year-old center forward from Ivory Coast, has scored 42 goals and made 11 assists in 126 appearances with Ferencváros, which plays in Hungary’s top league.
In each of his first two seasons with Ferencváros, Boli recorded 10 goals in 28 appearances. He scored five goals in 19 appearances during the 2021-22 season and so far this season has played in eight matches and put up three goals.
Boli previously played for Stabaek in Norway as well as for Liaoning FC of the Chinese Super League. He has made one appearance with the Ivory Coast men’s national team, in a World Cup qualifier in September 2021.
The Timbers opened the 2023 season Monday night with a 1-0 home victory against Sporting Kansas City and next face defending MLS Cup champion LAFC on the road at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
