The Portland Timbers play host to the San Jose Earthquakes in the first of two group stage matches in the inaugural Leagues Cup tournament. The match kicks off on Saturday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. PT/10:00 p.m. ET with live broadcasts on FS1 and Univision. A live stream is available for free on the Apple TV app.
EXPLAINED: The Leagues Cup includes all 29 MLS clubs and 18 clubs from Mexico’s Liga MX in a first-of-its-kind tournament featuring a group stage followed by knockout rounds. There are no ties in the group stage: A regulation win counts as three points, and if the match is tied after regulation, it goes straight to penalty kicks, with the winner in penalties receiving two points and the loser receiving one.
The top two finishers in points from each group will advance to the 32-team knockout stage. Portland and San Jose are joined by Mexican champions Tigres UANL in their group, who the Timbers will host Wednesday in their second group stage match.
ODDS (via DraftKings): Portland Timbers (-105) | Draw (+260) | San Jose Earthquakes (+275)
