An estimated 15,000 runners got up an hour earlier than normal due to daylight saving time and braved drizzling rain Sunday for Portland’s 25th Shamrock Run. The festive and decorated event was saturated in green and started and finished at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Routes included a half marathon, 15k, 8k, 5k, 1k, “Shamrock Stride ‘’ and “Leprechaun Lap” for kids. Upon finishing, participants were greeted with a beer garden, food and live entertainment.
According to event organizers, the event has raised $600,000 for OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital since 2002.
