CANNON BEACH, Ore. (August 19, 2024) – Public Coast Brewing Co. has announced the release of four special beverages for summer: Citra-Drop Hop Water, Blueberry Wheat Ale, Rosemary IPA and Peach Tart Ale. The brewery is also hosting a “Hood to Public Coast Pop-Up Beer Garden” on August 24, to coincide with the conclusion of the annual Providence Hood to Coast Relay at the Oregon Coast.
“We’re always looking for fun and creative ways to celebrate Oregon’s beautiful summers, and these new releases offer something bright and refreshing for a variety of palates and occasions,” said Ben Christianson, Public Coast’s brewer. “We’re especially excited to debut our first hop water, the Citra-Drop Hop Water — and we’re honored to showcase three special beer releases for summer, all of which incorporate produce from our sister property, Public Coast Farm.”
Citra-Drop Hop Water is Public Coast Brewing Co.’s first hop water release. This zero-proof beverage is crisp, refreshing, and subtly juicy — offering the delicate aroma of ripe tropical fruit and subtle herbaceous notes from Citra and Lemondrop hops. The result is hoppy, bright, refreshing and bubbly. Citra-Drop Hop Water is available in 16 oz four-packs and on tap at the brewpub, Farmstand, and shops throughout Portland and the North Oregon Coast such as Zupan’s Markets, Helvetia Farm Market, and John’s Marketplace.
Blueberry Wheat Ale, a seasonal offering, is an easy drinking wheat ale with a hint of ripe blueberries harvested from the brewery’s sister property, Public Coast Farm. A 5.4% ABV, the blueberry wheat ale is also brewed with pure coastal water, barley, honey and malt. It’s available in 16-oz four-packs at the Farmstand, as well as on tap and 16-oz four-packs at the brewpub. Public Coast Farm blueberries are included in numerous items on the Public Coast Brewing Co. menu, including the Blueberry Wheat Ale, Blueberry Hard Seltzer, Blueberry Soda and Blueberry-Honey Vinaigrette.
The brewery’s aromatic Rosemary IPA, a 7% ABV, is a malty tribute to the Pacific Northwest. It’s lush, herbal, and — as Christianson likes to say — “dank, dank, dank.” Public Coast Farm rosemary boldly sails upon the taste buds as the dankness of four varieties of hops crash like waves. This fragrant but mild-bodied brew tastes like an epic voyage of culinary proportions. India Pale Ales (IPAs) encompass numerous styles of beer and get their characteristics largely from hops, ranging from floral, fruity and citrus-like to piney or resinous aromas and flavors. The Rosemary IPA is brewed with 2-row, Carahell, carafoam, and pilzen malt, as well as magnum, chinook, simcoe, and El Dorado hops.
The Peach Tart Ale is bright with a light body, touch of tartness and a fruity, dry finish. Offering herbal and floral notes, the Peach Tart Ale is brewed with both peach and apricot puree, along with 2row, carahell (aka-c10) and wheat malt, as well as Willamette hops. This 6.2% ABV is part of Public Coast Brewing Co.’s popular Sour Series.
All of these brews will be available at the brewery’s “Hood to Public Coast Pop-Up Beer Garden” on August 24. The event, which coincides with the Providence Hood to Coast Relay’s conclusion at the Oregon Coast, will feature live music, recommended pairings, and other festive surprises. Public Coast Brewing Co. is located at 264 E. 3rd Street in Cannon Beach.
