I recently paid my quarterly estimated taxes for both Metro Supportive Housing Services and Multnomah County Preschool for All. The payment vouchers for the 2 separate programs are exactly the same (even the Form ID numbers are the same), the payments are due on the same day and they are both to be mailed to the same address. Further, to compound the confusion, neither of the tax payments are to be made payable to the named programs but instead to a third party, the City of Portland.
This is a system that is needlessly confusing to taxpayers and, I suspect, also to those who process the tax payments. Let’s get this fixed for next year.
