We need more people downtown in the gorgeous and vibrant city of Portland. Offices are not being used as much since the pandemic but the shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment venues are still fun.
The story on parking meter revenue being down 41% suggests a simple promo opportunity for downtown Portland, (“Are people coming back to downtown Portland yet? Here’s what the numbers say,” June 11).
Free parking from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays could be an easy promo to entice more suburban folks to shop, eat, drink, dance or stroll through our beautiful city. More street activity, more friendly faces, more revenue, more compassion and care for the community.
