At Benziger Family Winery, “family” is taken to heart. Today’s guest, brand ambassador Chris Benziger, is the youngest of seven. Four brothers, two sisters, 19 nieces and nephews: “It was my dad’s idea of cheap labor, I guess,” Benziger says, laughing. “Or nepotism run amok.”
For the Benzigers, working in the drinks industry seems like destiny. With an “honest to God” bootlegger grandfather, importer father, and wine-loving older brother, it’s no wonder they established one of Sonoma County’s premiere wineries. For over 30 years, they’ve heralded eco-friendly farming practices, resulting in expressive wines that are always certified biodynamic, organic, or sustainable.
