Well, hold onto your pint glasses, folks. As if the endless lockdowns and empty beer halls weren’t enough, the beer industry has decided to grace us with yet another virtual event. Because what we all need more of in our lives is staring at a screen, right? Enter the World Wide Beer Fest, coming this fall.
Covid-19 has apparently been a “fertile ground for a new idea” (their words, not mine), leading to the creation of this digital shindig. You know what else is fertile ground? Actual ground. Remember that stuff? It’s where hops grow. Just saying.
This isn’t your average beer fest, though. Oh no, this one’s on the Internet. Prepare yourselves for a smorgasbord of virtually “compelling” content. We’re talking Facility Tours, Presentations, Demos, and Interviews, all without the joy of actually smelling the hops or meeting anyone face-to-face.
Once you’ve absorbed all that enlightening content, the fun doesn’t stop. They’ll “transport” you to the Jones Creek Brewing Taproom for a live DJ set. Because nothing says ‘craft beer’ like pumping dance music and DJs you’ve never heard of.
They’re also inviting up to 50 breweries and beer venues to host watch and dance parties. And good news, there are 55 spots for individuals to join the virtual dance party too. Because who doesn’t love dancing in their living room, alone, watching a DJ on a screen?
And for the cherry on top, this digital spectacle is streamed live on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook. So not only can you enjoy it, but you can also subject all your friends and followers to it, too.
The World Wide Beer Fest team has also put together a podcast and a blog because, well, why not? They’re also planning quarterly events to take us on a “journey across the wide world of beer”. I can hardly contain my excitement.
