Five years of beers from Threshold Brewing will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24 in Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood. Threshold Brewing’s 5th Anniversary will take place from Noon – 9:00pm and will feature five special beer release, three of which are collaboration beers.
Threshold Brewing opened its doors in early 2019. The brewery is now owned and operated by Jarek and Sara Szymanski, a couple with a passion for craft beer and love for their Portland Montavilla neighborhood. The brewery and taproom has grown into an award-winning establishment, featuring modern beers alongside Polish historical styles and tapping into the emerging Polish hop market.
As part of the festivities, Threshold Brewing has brewed up three new collaboration beers, one each with Gigantic Brewing, Von Ebert Brewing and Ruse Brewing. Here’s a rundown on the five beers that will be tapped on Saturday for Threshold Brewing’s 5th Anniversary.
Threshold x Gigantic
Empire Wasted Thiolized Imperial Grodziskie
100% smoked wheat ale, Thiolized and dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin
Light smoke dances with heady and aromatic Nelson Sauvin hops, fermented and further enhanced with a Thiolized yeast strain. At 4.1% this Imperial Grodziskie packs a punch. 4.1% ABV
Threshold x Von Ebert
Future Footage West Coast IPA
Brewed with Citra, Chinook and Columbus CO2 hop extracts, SPECTRUM hop extract, and Cryo Hops
A classically west coast IPA with Citra, Chinook and Columbus but use of pure hop extracts and concentrated Cryo hops push it all to the max. These are some of the latest game changers in brewing innovation and they’re blowing the lid on previously understood flavor, aroma and yield potential. It’s the future, baby! 7.5% ABV
Threshold x Ruse
Dual Perspective Hazy IPA
Brewed with Citra, Riwaka and Superdelic hops and Mosaic Incognito hop extract
If Von Ebert is the champion of West Coast IPAs, Ruse rules the Hazies. Dual Perspective is a juicy delve down under with New Zealand’s rockstar Riwaka and brand new Superdelic, known for their unearthly combined wow factor of candied citrus, sweet berry and ripe tropical fruit flavor. Ruse loves to push the envelope on hazies and that’s exactly where we like to be. 7% ABV
Svarog Jopen-Style Ale
Official 5th Anniversary Beer
A traditional high gravity style from Gdansk dating back as far as the middle ages and colloquially known as ‘Polish Barleywine.” Svarog is a smooth, rich and balanced Jopen aged in Westward Whiskey barrels for over 1 year. 13% ABV
Piwko Light Lager
An exceptionally clean and crisp light “Jasne” lager brewed with Central European malts and Polish Puławski hops. Brewed in collaboration with local non-profit Shriners Children’s Hospital with a portion of proceeds supporting Shriners. 4.9% ABV
The daylong event will also include limited glassware, a line-up of DJs and wood-fired pizza from guest food truck Hearth and Soul!
