There is still time to nominate your favorite Oregon or southwest Washington employer for recognition as an outstanding place to work. The deadline for nominations to the 12th annual Top Workplaces awards program has been extended to April 14.
So far, more than 200 companies have signed up to have their employees take a short 24-question survey in April. Any public, private, nonprofit or government organization with at least 35 employees in Oregon or southwest Washington (Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania counties) is eligible to participate.
Energage, The Oregonian/OregonLive’s Top Workplaces research partner, is a certified B Corp. with a mission to help employers make an impact on workplace culture, the working lives of employees and society overall. Survey results not only help employers pinpoint ways to improve their workplaces, Energage says, but attract the kind of employees who will thrive there.
Early Top Workplace surveys several years ago helped Carr Auto Group of Beaverton improve its on-the-job training, said Carr Human Resources Director Keeley Laughlin. Current employees take pride in the company’s frequent Top Workplace honors, and new employees are attracted by them, she said.
Laughlin includes the Top Workplace designation in recruiting materials, proving to newcomers that Carr’s values aren’t just talk.
“It gives us street cred,” she said.
Last year, Energage, based in Pennsylvania, partnered with media in 61 markets and surveyed more than 2 million employees at more than 8,000 organizations. In Oregon and southwest Washington, surveys went to 33,339 employees at 194 organizations.
