A 36-year-old Portland man known as the “TriMet Barber” is in jail again after a TriMet employee saw him on the MAX platform by Southwest Portland’s Providence Park, in violation of a lifetime ban and probation orders barring him from being within 50 feet of any TriMet stop or station.
Jared Walter pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court to second-degree criminal trespass and interfering with public transportation, according to court records.
His next court appearance is scheduled for May 26.
Walter is being held in the Multnomah County Detention Center on $2,500 bail. If released, he must wear a GPS monitoring device and abide by orders not to go near any TriMet stops or stations, court records show.
Walter was arrested and booked on May 2 after a TriMet employee reviewing surveillance footage spotted him walking onto the Southwest 18th Avenue MAX platform on April 26.
According to court records, the employee immediately recognized Walter, who in 2017 received a lifetime ban from TriMet after numerous arrests for cutting, touching or masturbating into the hair of unsuspecting female passengers.
Walter was released from state prison in February, KATU reported. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison after pleading guilty in July 2021 to trying to take a photo or video of a woman inside a bathroom inside Northeast Portland’s Lloyd Center mall.
