A passenger who died in a Southwest Barbur Boulevard crash July 21 has been identified as 23-year-old Seraphin Ibrahim.
Ibrahim died around 1:33 a.m. near Southwest 22nd Avenue after police say driver Espoir M. Kaneke crashed his silver 2011 Toyota Scion into a gray 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan. Police arrested Kaneke, 26, on allegations of first-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
Both cars hit the exterior wall of the nearby Rustix Pub.
A woman died near the same stretch of Barbur Boulevard one week earlier.
Forty-two people have died in Portland crashes so far this year, compared with 63 in all of 2022.
Police ask anyone who might have information about the crash to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 23-191095.
