Vitaly Paley, the James Beard Award-winning chef whose Paley’s Place closed during the pandemic after 26 years in Northwest Portland, will return to Oregon for the first time for an event in Willamette Valley wine country this July.
As first reported by The Oregonian, Vitaly and wife Kimberly Paley put their landmark restaurant and its converted Victorian home on the market in October of 2021, then closed after Thanksgiving service that year. Like Ken’s Artisan Bakery owner Ken Forkish, another prominent Portland food industry figure, the Paleys eventually moved to Hawaii.
