Medals were handed out in just two events Thursday at the World Athletics Championships, but they were two big events for two different countries.
The United States, which has been leading the medal count for several days, swept the men’s 200-meter dash on Thursday night, with Noah Lyles taking the gold while Kenneth Bednarek earned the silver and Erriyon Knighton took the bronze.
In the women’s 200, Jamaica took two of the medals with Shericka Jackson taking the top spot and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce coming in second place. Third place in the race was Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith.
Jamaica moves to third in the medal count, tied with Kenya. Both countries have six medals total. Ethiopia maintains its position in second place, with eight medals.
Here’s a complete look at the Oregon22 medals table, as well as a look at who has won medals in individual events.
