Eliza Garcia remembers when the sky turned black in Roseburg.
It was September of 2020, and Garcia had returned to her hometown from the University of Oregon earlier in the year after the pandemic sent students home. The Archie Creek fire had started a few days earlier nearby and was quickly whipped into a massive blaze by unseasonal east winds and exacerbated by a warming climate.
