Once again, it was business as usual for Yulimar Rojas at the World Athletics Championships.
After leading all qualifiers at the women’s triple jump Friday at Oregon22, the Venezuelan star cruised to gold Monday with a monster distance of 50 feet, 9¼ inches in her second attempt to claim the top spot at Hayward Field.
It marked the third consecutive world title and sixth globally in the triple jump for Rojas, who dominated the event from start to finish. The two-time defending champion produced the sixth-farthest jump of all time with her top mark in front of the Eugene crowd.
Jamacia’s Shanieka Ricketts finished second behind Rojas at 48-10¼. Team USA’s Tori Franklin rounded out the top three with a mark of 48-3½.
