Case 21-918996 — one of 10,233 crime reports filed last year with Portland police — was designated as a minor incident: A pickpocket lifted a wallet from a woman’s purse one afternoon while she was in a Northeast Portland grocery store.
Inside the wallet, tucked in a hidden pocket behind cash and credit cards, was a small black-and-white photograph taken more than 80 years ago in a small Indiana town.
