Originally studying as a ballet dancer at the School of American Ballet, Vanessa Carlton turned to music after her studies and became a celebrated pianist and singer-songwriter. She rose to fame in 2002 with her hit song “A Thousand Miles” and followed it up with “Ordinary Day” and “Pretty Baby”, which all have been featured on various movie soundtracks.
